Let's be upfront, yes I am a Fred Thompson supporter. I have noticed that most media and pundit observations have dismissed Fred as lacking desire. I believe it is not a lack of desire but that everyone knows Fred Thompson's positions and views. He consistent and has strong belief in his views and is not going to change his personality just to placate the media and pundits. How refreshing the idea of what you see is what you get, not slick marketing or conveniently adjusted personas for viewing pleasure.
Watching the debates and the back and forth between Huck, John and Mitt makes for good tv and fun debates. Fred Thompson just plainly states his positions, his beliefs and puts forth detailed plans, how unexciting. Is he the perfect candidate? No. He supported McCain/Feingold and has since admitted that was a mistake, no excuses he was wrong. But he is by far the most conservative and consistent. His confidence and ease with who he is irritates pundits. The only complaint about him or his record is that he wants to be president because of a sense of duty not desire or entitlement, also refreshing.
It is time for conservatives to wake up and back the one candidate who as he said in the debates what the truth is. Social Security is in trouble, Energy independence is 8-10 years away, the world is an ever more dangerous place. He has obviously sat down and intently thought about all issues and formulated plans. He received scrutiny on his social security plan, at least he has a plan and is talking about it.
It is time conservatives and Americans get beyond the 30 second sound bite and support substance. I believe this is a critical time in our country and if the wrong candidate is put in charge the damage they could do could take decades to reverse.
Put Thompson/Hunter 2008 into the White House and watch the left's heads explode in utter rage.
